the screen of my laptop is twice as bright than before. i think it is because the brightness of the screen has to adapt the colour of the game that i played the day before. i tried changing the brightness using fn but it was no use. Try pressing the the function key and the brightness up and down key.
For dell laptops he up and down key is usually the arrows.
See your user manual to see which button it is.

right click on desktop
choose properties
click on settings tab
click on advanced
click on color tab
move the brightness slider to suit you
click on apply
click on OK
