How do i get all that back but my main priority is media direct.Brad from Dell: how do i get media direct back?
To fix Media Direct it really depends how the reinstall of Windows was done.

If the partition for Media Direct was not removed or possibly just damaged, downloading this file will resolve the problem. The Media Direct Repair file is located here: http://support.dell.com/support/download

If the drive was completely reformatted and the partitions were rebuilt/destroyed another reinstall of Windows might have to be done. Follow the guide at this link to fix Media Direct: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g you will need the Media Direct disk. If the disk is not available Technical Support will need to be contacted to obtain one. An alternate way to contact Technical Support is through the online chat option located here: http://www.support.dell.com/support/topi

Dell Quickset needs to be installed in order to fix the problem with pop ups not being displayed after a (volume/brightness) key is pressed. Dell Quickset can be downloaded from this link: http://support.dell.com/support/download

Note that the files provided for download are for Windows XP. Files for Vista can be located here: http://support.dell.com/support/download and they will be listed under applications.

I hope this helps.
